Finally decided to do some more serious art involving my MH chars parents, and decided to start out with Jeanette's. I've been wanting to draw her father for a while now so it seemed like as good a time as any as the starting of this project

For those unfamiliar with my MH chars, these two are this character's parents.

Garette Oparis
Relationship to Jeanette: Biological father and sole guardian of Jeanette.
Race: Sandman
Where he's from: France
Gender: Male
Height: 5'5"
Sexuality: Heteroromantic Heterosexual
Marital Status: Single, not actively seeking. (and hasn't since Seraphine died, much to Jean's annoyance.)
Age: 37 (but more appears to be in his mid to late 40s due to looking far older then he is. A mixture of being worn out and his white hair which is natural born making him look older.)
Profession: Author. Primarily writes children's books now but used to write more mature-audience books. Jean's been trying to talk him into trying that again someday.
Family: Other then Jeanette he has no living relatives. (that he knows of)

Seraphine Oparis
Relationship to Jeanette: Biological mother who died during childbirth.
Race: Sandwoman
Where She's From: France
Gender: Female
Height: 5'6" at the time she died
Age: Died from childbirth when she was 22. Picture above is from when she was around 19-ish before the illness that left her so weak took hold and left her a mess.
Profession When Alive: Part-time Candy shop employee and full-time dream-worker with a lean towards making dreams related to sweets.
Family: If she has any other living relatives Garette does not know and never got a chance to find out. It is known for sure her parents and closest relatives are deceased as well, but any distant relatives are unknown.

Them as a Couple
Where they Met: In the dream world
How Long They Were Together: From the time they were 17 to the day Sera died from childbirth.
The Proposal: When they were 19, Garette put together a very fancy dreamscape for her one night and proposed to her in it, when she woke up the ring was sitting in the box next to the bed. She happily said yes.

No two people could be more in love. Seraphine was Garette's whole world, he absolutely adored her and in turn she adored him. Their first few years together were tough financially since Sera's part-time job didn't pay a lot and she didn't really get paid for the dream-worker stuff and it took a while for Garette's writing career to hit off, but once it did things got a lot easier for them both and they really started to make a home for themselves and a future family that they both wanted so much. (They hoped to have at least three children.)

Sadly around the time Sera turned 20 an old illness that she thought she'd beaten in her earlier years came flaring back to life, quickly leaving her weakened and a complete wreck. She was not sure if she'd beat it this time and told Garette she wanted to have a child before she died, despite the doctor's telling her how bad an idea it was. Garette tried to tell her no as well but in the end she got her way and conceived a child, who would be Jeanette. Despite the doctor's best efforts she did not survive the birthing as was feared, leaving a very heart broken Garette to raise his new infant daughter on his own. He moved from France to the states, wanting as much of a fresh start as he could without Sera, but even the distance could not help the hole growing ever bigger inside of him. The only thing really keeping him together to this day is his daughter.

Not long after Jean's birth Garette took up writing children's books over the stuff he had been writing, wanting to write books his daughter could read as a child. He found he was very good at it and in the end found a new found passion in his work. He never took up dating again, to this day feeling like he could never replace Seraphine in his heart. He devoted himself completely to his daughter, to the point of being incredibly protective of her to a degree that drives her crazy. Also, he stopped going into the dream world when Sera died as well, going so far as to take medicine that would impede his ability to go there while also giving him at least remotely restful rest. Due to this he never gets a truly good night's sleep and is constantly in a state of half-exhaustion.

His daughter plans on doing what she can to set him up on blind dates in the future, hoping maybe she can introduce him to love again someday and put him down the path of truly recovering from his loss instead of hiding from it as he has all these years. Also, she hopes to someday find a way to talk him into going into the dreamworld again so he can truly get a good night's rest, as she knows how much he is wearing his body out living as he is.
